Heavy Duty Truck Engines

Owners and operators of Class 7 and 8 trucks can depend on Cummins to deliver the leading technology for 2013 engines and beyond. Cummins' complete on-highway lineup, including the Heavy-Duty ISX15 and ISX12, has received 2013 certification, meeting the 2014 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and United States Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for fuel economy and greenhouse gas reduction a year ahead of schedule, while improving fuel economy, reliability and durability.

Cummins 2013 on-highway engines use proven technology and the same core components that make all Cummins engines so fuel efficient and reliable.

The Cummins heavy duty truck-engine lineup includes the following diesel engines:

ISX15

The Cummins ISX15 is the only engine offered as an option by every major truck manufacturer in the business and is the most popular heavy-duty engine in North America. The 2013 ISX is equipped with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) which monitors and ensures optimal performance of the emissions system. This engine delivers superior driving performance and industry-leading fuel economy - every element has been designed and manufactured to optimize performance, reliability and durability while delivering the lowest operating costs of any engine in its class. Ratings range from 400-600 hp with a maximum 2050 lb-ft of peak torque.

ISX12

Cummins ISX12 is making a huge impact in work trucks of all types, from mixers and dumps to day cabs and LTL operations. It combines the strength and reliability of proven technology from the ISX15 with a high power-to-weight ratio and over 800 lb-ft of clutch engagement torque. It achieves near-zero emissions and reduces noise output.

Cummins has refined the 2013 ISX12 to deliver up to 2% better fuel economy versus the 2012 ISX12. With the amount of fuel saved, ISX12-powered trucks meet demanding performance standards while providing significant savings through a lower total cost of operation.
